London Edinburgh London 2025: Route revealed!

We are thrilled to unveil the route for London Edinburgh London 2025! Designed by Audax UK's award-winning organiser Andy Berne, this 1530km cycling adventure takes riders through some of the most stunning landscapes England and Scotland have to offer.

This year, participants can choose from two starting points:

  • Central London
  • Writtle, Essex (our primary start location)

Discover the routes

The 2025 route builds on the finest traditions of London Edinburgh London, journeying through Essex, Cambridgeshire, and Lincolnshire before reaching the iconic Humber Bridge. From there, the route gently shifts westward, crossing the majestic Pennines to meet the Scottish border. Riders will then enjoy 320km of unparalleled cycling bliss, traversing the tranquil, almost traffic-free roads of Scotland's enchanting lowlands.

Words from the event directors

At the event launch, director Danial Webb shared:
"We're incredibly proud of the 2025 route. Andy has drawn on his extensive knowledge of Britain’s roads to craft a journey that combines breathtaking scenery with some of the country's most peaceful lanes."

Route director Andy Berne added:
"Our goal was twofold: to showcase the UK’s most captivating landscapes and to do so on quiet roads with gentle climbs. While a few steep ascents are unavoidable, we've worked hard to keep the route as smooth and accessible as possible."

Minimizing disruptions

We’ve also partnered closely with local councils to reduce the risk of roadworks disrupting the event. So far, pledges to protect 950km of the route have been secured, making it highly likely that the route unveiled today will remain unchanged for the event next August.

Watch out for Whorlton

The only potential risk to the route lies near Barnard Castle, where we plan to include the iconic Whorlton Bridge—a long-standing highlight of the event. Currently undergoing an extensive restoration, the bridge is scheduled to reopen in May 2025. However, if the renovation faces delays, we’ve prepared an alternative route to ensure your journey remains uninterrupted.
